Miami Vice

Miami Vice PosterI just saw the movie Miami Vice and I thought it was ok. I have never seen the original TV series that this movie is loosely based upon. However, this movie seems to be an update on the series and is set in the present day. If you are planning to watch this movie, feel free to abandon your girlfriend or significant other. This is definitely not a chick-flick nor does it have any real romance. It’s basically a straight-up action movie filled with great special effects (I just love the fighting scenes, they seem extremely realistic) and some steamy sex with not much nudity.

I’m not going to waste your time describing every single tidbit about this movie. However, I will tell you that it is not really a slow-paced drama/action movie. In fact, it moves at a nice brisk pace and is filled with great shootouts, cliche dialogue, pointless love scenes, and some great CG effects. The soundtrack of this movie is pretty well made I think. However, they rely too much on alternative/rock music and not enough on Cuban influenced music. I think that would have made a much better impression on me in terms of music. So is the movie worth renting? If you’re looking for nice action movie, this movie is definitely worth watching. However, if you want to add this movie to your DVD collection, I would reconsider since it really isn’t that type of movie that you will watch over and over again.

On a different note, I felt that Colin Farrell was talking with an Irish accent in the movie. I know that he is from Ireland, but shouldn’t an actor portraying an American character speak with a flawless American accent? Jamie Foxx doesn’t seem to have a huge role in this film. The story-line seems to revolve around Colin’s character and his babe, although, the movie does try to bring Jamie’s character and his love into the loop. The dialogue isn’t anything great, but when you’re watching an action movie, you just want to see fighting and death. Overall, I think this movie is worth watching but not buying for your DVD collectin. Enjoy the film
