The Continuation of Beginnings

Today was the first day of the spring semester and it was off to an icy start. The Midwest has been struck by an icy winter storm and there was ice everywhere. At my apartment, there was like a layer of ice over the parking lot and pathways. Needless to say, it was a chore just to get to my car and not fall down. On campus, the story was not any different. Ice greeted all the walkers and it did claim some unfortunate souls as they slid and fell, rock hard, on their bums. Luckily for me, my two classes were not too long and were actually quite interesting. So far, I’ve spent about $150 on books for three different courses. Hopefully, I don’t have to spend more money on books since I absolutely hate wasting hundreds of dollars on boring textbooks. And if you’re looking for reasonably priced books - always consider international textbooks because they are similar in every way to the US versions and cost a fraction of what the US versions cost - visit this site: Valore Books.
WordPress 2.0.7
Just days after their 2.0.6 release, the WordPress developers have released another security update which is extremely critical. Apparently, it patches a bug that allowed malicious users to potentially hack into your blog and claim it and/or damage your vital posts. It also fixes a bug that 2.0.6 introduced to FeedBurner users. This blog did not suffer from that bug, luckily, but the issue has now been fixed. If you already have 2.0.6, you do not have to worry yourself with a complicated upgrade. Instead, you only need to update six files. You can learn more about the new 2.0.7 release and its release notes here.
Joomla…Here I Come
I’m not too familiar with content management systems, but it appears that Joomla can quickly allow me to maintain my website in a very easy manner. It is my hope to use Joomla as the driving force behind my website at the root level and hopefully I can figure it out. If all goes well, I should have a working site up by the end of the month. If you have any experience with Joomla, please feel free to share them with me.
