Why Do I Blog?

Jennifer over at Broke-Ass Student tagged me with the question: Why do I blog? So here’s my response:
In all honesty, I never really bothered to analyze why I blog because I never had to explain to anyone why. However, after starting this blog and reading countless others, I have come to realize that blogging is not simply just a gimmick on the web. In fact, I think John Chow’s blog really motivated me to be committed to this blog and force myself to consider it a commitment just like my own courses. I think the reason why I blog is to share my thoughts with others around the world. I blog because it helps me to clearly express my thoughts and gives me the opportunity to learn from my own thoughts and grow as a person.
The Air is a personal blog and as such I do not limit it to any particular niche. In fact, I write mostly about topics/issues that interest me. I know this may alienate some readers, but I think of my blog as MINE. Yes, I am selfish, but what’s the point if I simply cater to my readers and not to my own passions? If I’m not passionate about my blog or my writings, then I won’t write very well nor will I have any motivation to write in the first place. So I think it makes perfect sense for me to simply enjoy what I write about and hope that the readers enjoy reading what I write.
This blog has taught me a great deal of things. I feel that my writing has improved and that I am learning more about blogging in general. My main goal for this blog has always been to learn and be consistent. I am doing my best to improve my writing and learn at the same time. So far, I am pleased with the results and I honestly like to blog regularly and consistently.
So who do I tag? I think I will tag Zaib Kaleem as this will be the perfect opportunity for him to explain to his readers why he has started a blog.
