No One Enjoys My Contest
Mar 6th 2007Nik AgarwalRantings
I’ve had my contest posted for a few days and I am surprised no one is interested. Let’s face it, all you have to do is add me to your Technorati favorites and/or MyBlogLog community and you’re already entered. What do you win? You win a $25 gift certificate on Amazon.com. In fact, if you win, you can buy something from Amazon.com and not have to pay a dime since you can select super saver free shipping during checkout. I think it’s a bargain. The contest is ruled invalid unless 25 or more people add me to MyBlogLog and Technorati, so spread the word.
And if you’re worried that I may not pay, fear not, I am a man of my word and if the contest rules are followed, I will gladly send the gift certificate. Spread the word and win.

Oops, I’ve been slacking. I meant to post this a few days ago. Thanks for a great contest, Nik.

I came here and entered because of Jennifer Lynn. Just so you know. I’ll spread the word for you, too!

It’s kind of hard to do a contest when you don’t have a large readership. Maybe you should hold off until you develop a bigger reputation?

Contrary to what the title of the post says, I’m not really complaining nor am I worried about no one taking notice of my contest. I could wait for a bigger reader base, but why wait? This way, I can see how contests can drive traffic to my blog and maybe gain some exposure along the way. In return for readers spending time on my blog, I also give them a chance to win something. I see no advantage of holding off until my blog develops a larger audience. As far as I am concerned, this contest is a great idea for any blog, regardless of size. All you need is some motivation and a healthy spirit. Besides, you do not have to participate in the contest if you don’t want to.

You’re my favorite! (Technoratti). Keep blogging, and nice theme =) The picture of the island reminds me of Vorovoro…. my “other home” at http://www.tribewanted.com

Dear Juan Millon,
After reading your comments regarding the contest, I was shocked. I almost fell off my chair and broke my tail bone. I support the contest and what Air Nik has been trying to do. In order to have contest, large readership is not required. In fact, this is a great opportunity for Air Nik to attract more readers to his blog and expand upon it.
Keep up the work Air Nik
Sincerely,
P^2 aka AK cuatro siete (47)…

P^2@I didn’t mean anything negative by my comment, so by all means fall out of your chair.
I’ve never heard of the site before, I found out about it from a friend who posted it on her blog.
I am really big on marketing and making good use of your resources. So don’t take my comments personally.
It is my belief that if you have a low readership the best way to win them over is with content rather than contests.
Other than the contest here what other things do you have to attract readers and keep them here if that is what the point of your contest is?
After getting dugg and reddit’d a number of times i learned this lesson the hard way.
Your contest is largely wasted on traffic that will never return again without directing them to the right place.
Just constructive feedback.
You get it now?
Your friend
Juan

Also my response was largely due to the misleading title of this post.. So take that into consideration before falling out of your chair, airplane or anything else you might find.
