Winter Cleaning

My family was pretty lazy over summer so they decided to delay the inevitable basement cleaning until winter. So here we are, a few months later and winter cleaning has just started. The past 48 hours, I have been busy assembling my dad’s new computer, cleaning the computer storage room, and sorting through all the books.

According to my numbers, my dad has a total of 135 books. Of that number, 60 of them have been donated to the library. The rest have been saved because they are “resources” that may come in handy in the future. Most of these books are all related to Java or C programming. Here’s the fun part, we haven’t even starting looking at the shelves that are full of novels and office supplies.

The moral of the story? Clean over summer because the weather is far more enjoyable and can be motivating. The cold winter is simply bad and drains my energy. Back to another few hours of cleaning.

I want to wish everyone a Very Happy Merry Christmas. I hope all of you received what was on your wish-list. I received my Christmas presents early, so all I got to open today was a box of candy and dozens of Christmas cards.

And my presents were:

  • Apple MacBook; received May 2007
  • Apple iPod Touch; received October 2007
  • Apple Mac OS X Leopard; received October 2007
  • North Face backpack; received December 2007

Yes, it was a great year filled with Apple Pride!

A Perfect Semester

Earlier today, I checked my grades and I am simply stunned. For the first time in my life, I have earned straight A’s. This translates into a semester GPA of 4.0 and an overall GPA of 3.85; otherwise known as a perfect semester.

Here’s a breakdown by course:

  • MEE210 (Statics): A
  • ISYE495 (Senior Design): A
  • ISYE 480 (Simulation & Modeling): A
  • ARTH282 (Introduction to Art History): A
  • FLCL271 (Ancient Greek Mythology): A

How was your semester? Don’t panic if you did not do as well as you wanted to. After many years of studying my habits and tweaking them, I have finally found a great formula for success that works for me. Will it work for you? It may or may not, but the only way to find out is to actually try it. Unlike what other people might encourage you to try, my approach is simple and focuses on immediate results. Stay tuned for a post that will teach you more.

Asshat Finally Decides To Apologize

I’ve kept a very quiet demeanor in terms of what Ashwin Khanna did on his blog a few months ago. I will NOT link to Ashwin’s blog as that would unfairly give him an undeserved linkback. This asshat hosted a contest that offered $2,500 to one lucky winner. For those of you who kept up, the winner was some blog that had only two posts and was newly created. It should be no surprise to you that it was Asshat Khanna’s own creation.

I happened to come across another post by Prince John that talked about the idiot Ashwin. So I decided to take a look at Ashwin’s blog and guess what. The kid changed his blog design, deleted his posts, and has offered an apology to the entire blogosphere. I think the fact is that the damage is done. Millions of bloggers around the world struggle to attract readers and move up in rankings across a multitude of search engines and blog indexing services. What Ashwin did was not only cruel but should also be considered cheating. If anything, I think his blog should just be banned completely.

However, I also think that forgiving one’s mistakes is a chance for harmony and gives the other person another opportunity to learn from their experiences. Am I going to read his blog regularly? The answer is no. Ever since I discovered his blog on Blogspot, none of his posts have been creative nor filled with quality content. All of his old posts were simply quick snippets of a variety of tech happenings.

Ashwin needs to learn and start writing original quality content. He shouldn’t simply be focused on monetizing his blog or running fake contests to get readers. Moreover, I hope he has learned from this experience and will regularly remind his readers that they too should not engage in deceptive practices.

So why am I writing this now? The answer is simple, Ashwin has redid his site and offered an apology. It’s only fair that I forgive him but also remind him that once you lose readers, you may lose them forever.
